This Wednesday I don’t have much energy, and don’t feel like putting anything creative on. So today I’m going to copy my friends idea and do a post on Wish I Wore Wednesday. Her blog is Under the Lilacs. :)

So last Sunday I had to go shopping, yes I say “had to” because I don’t like to till I have to, and I needed new jeans. I tried the thrift store first, I tried on countless pairs, but they were either too short, too big, too small or down right ugly! hahaha I was bummed, but I decided to look around the store at other things before I left, and BOY! am I glad I did!

I was walking down the isle with the baking sheets and odd ball serving dishes when I saw them on the top shelf. I had to keep myself from jumping up and down! :D

I have been looking for a copper canister set for my hope chest, and have not found a set that was cheap enough or one that had all the pieces….

This one had three of the pieces, Flour, Sugar, Coffee. I was kinda bummed there wasn’t one for tea till a small copper thing down the isle caught my eye. Yes it was a tea canister, however, no not the exact same, it’s color and lid is a little different.

They aren’t in perfect condition, but it gives them character, and one can’t complain at 20.00 for the set. :)

Cake+Frosting= Goodness…..

Cake! Who doesn’t love it????? Add some homemade frosting and it’s a million times better.

So a frosted cake is delicious and fairly easy to make, until you want to really want to decorate it… My Grandma, my mom’s Mom, used to professionally decorate cakes, and she also taught some classes. Well my sister and I wanted to learn, so Amy and I stayed up at my Grandparents for a few days so my grandma could teach us.

My grandma bought Amy and I both tips, a nail and food coloring. :)

To start my Grandma gave us each a bowl of frosting and a piece of wax paper, we piped our flowers onto there for practice.

Drop flowers, Easy! :D

With out telling you can you tell what these flowers are??? hahaha

These are supposed to be Pansies… :/

Then we have Roses! Easy! Who would have thought that these beautiful flowers would be the easiest flowers we’d attempt. :D

Next were Daisies and Daffodils…

By the end of the first day we had created an army of frosted flowers. :)

Day 2….

The second day we got to decorate our own cakes… To smooth the frosting out we had to dip the knife into a bowl of hot water and then run it across the cake.

We added trims, flowers and leaves…

TA-DA! :D Amy’s is on the left and mine on the right…

Amy did a really cool shell boarder on the bottom, I didn’t quite prefect that one… hahaha

I stuck with the stars! :)

Then of course after we were all done we HAD to eat our beautiful creations. :)

Lamp Shade….

I have been looking for a lamp for my room, but haven’t been able to find one I like for a good price. So Mom had a lamp that she is letting my sister and I use. lol However it had the ugliest shade ever! I could not stand it, so I had to fix it up.

I first painted it white, but the yellow still showed through when the lamp was on. So it looked kind of silly, but I had an idea! ;) Black painted buildings!

We ran out of suet cakes for the birds, so we made some. I started with some bread (toasted or untoasted)….

Covered them in peanut butter, and fairly thick….

Sprinkled bird seed on the bread then pressed the seed into the peanut butter. I flipped and did the same to the other side of the bread.

I hung them and….

let the birds enjoy. :)

Josh came over on Sunday, so we went on a walk to see my dream property covered in snow. On the way though it was like a never ending snow fight (no not a snow ball fight, we couldn’t get the snow to pack).

On our way to our destination there were so many pretty things to take pictures of. :)

Below is a neighbor’s barn.

Here is my dream property… It is really pretty in summer when it is full of tall grass, wild flowers and the trees dressed in their leaves.

Someone thought it would be funny to throw a snow clump at me while I had my camera out. However, lucky for him, he missed me. lol

SNOW! Finally Washington has SNOW! :D Everything is now covered in a beautiful blanket of white.

Right now we have about 3 inches, and today it is supposed to snow another 1 to 3.

Tomorrow into Wednesday we have been told that we are going to get at least 6 inches but we may get up to a foot!

Ginger LOVES the snow, even though she is old, she runs around like a puppy in it. :)

Mr. Darcy likes the snow too, he lately has been pretty lazy, but yesterday he went running all over the pasture. lol Funny little horse. :)

My truck doesn’t like the snow, she just sits and gets covered in it. hahaha

I have a ton more pictures I want to share, but I’ll save some for later. :)

My Great Grandpa’s Book…

My Great Uncle gave me some of my Great Grandfathers books that he had given to my Uncle. All of them had to do with horses. :)

One of my favorites is “Horses in Harness” by Charles Phillip Fox.

It’s full of old pictures, advertisements and news paper articles.

How cool would it be to jump back in time to see old shows like these. :D

OH MY GOSH! Can you imagine a new buggy like these being sooooo cheap! I know that was a lot more money back then, but its still seems really inexpensive. lol

I love this article, what a neat comparison. :)

And this is a funny picture, a horse being watered at the gas station. :D

It’s a cool book and it’s even cooler that it was my Great-grandfather's, the book never fails to make me smile. :)

Our World and Our Savior….

This morning I was reading Isaiah 1 while eating breakfast. I read verses 21 through 23, where it talks about the sins of Judah, and it compares it to Sodom and Gomorrah. I was kind of shocked how it described our world in those few verses.

Isaiah 1:21-23 NKJV

²¹ How the faithful city has become a harlot!
It was full of justice;
Righteousness lodged in it,
But now murderers.
²² Your silver has become dross,
Your wine mixed with water.
²³ Your princes are rebellious,
And companions of thieves;
Everyone loves bribes,
And follows after rewards.
They do not defend the fatherless,
Nor does the cause of the widow come before them.

When they are comparing it to the sinful cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, it made me think of the way the land there was destroyed.

Genesis 19:24-25 NKJV

²⁴ Then the LORD rained brimstone and fire on Sodom and Gomorrah, from the LORD out of the heavens. ²⁵ So He overthrew those cities, all the plain, all the inhabitants of the cities, and what grew on the ground.

And it makes me think again of how our world is to be destroyed….

2 Peter 3:10-13 NKJV

¹⁰ But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.^[a] ¹¹ Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, ¹² looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? ¹³ Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.

If our world is so sinful, much like the the world before the flood, and the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, how much longer can it be before the fires rain from heaven? How long will it be before God says “Enough” and sends His Son to our sinful world? I am so thankful though that I shall be among the people that He finds faithful to Him! I look forward to the day when The Lord comes riding down upon His white horse. I look forward to the day when I get to be apart of the new Heaven and Earth. :)

These are cute little boots, they’d be nice with any pair of long jeans or a summer skirt or dress.

I like the color and style, but they’d be better flat.

Some Good Movies….

Well I already did a post on some of my favorite books, so I thought I’d do one on my favorite movies. :)

1. Pride and Prejudice ( of course!)

2. BBC’s Emma, Fantastic movie and it is WAY better than the Hollywood version!

3. Disney Pixar’s UP, such a sweet movie :)

4. North and South, That is an amazing movie! I read the book as well, by Elizabeth Gaskell, and the move is Very close to the book!

5. BBC’s Sense and Sensibility, this one also is way better than the Hollywood version, though it’s more of a mini series.

6. Love Comes Softly Series

7. This is a show, but I love it, Road to Avonlea, it’s by the same makers of Anne of Green Gables (which is also very good).

8. Miss. Potter is one of my top favorites! Such a perfect little movie. :)

9. Little Women (but who doesn’t love that movie).

10. I also really like the old movies with Bing Crosby, one of my 2 favorites are White Christmas and Holiday Inn. :)

11. And because I love horses, I thought I’d add a horse movie. Ruffian, it’s based off a true story and is done by ESPN. It is clean, good movie but VERY sad. It’s one of my favorites because one, its unforgettable and two it’s not a mushy girly horse story (not that those are bad, I watch them all the time! :D)

Is it already 2012?!? Wow, this year has gone by so fast!

This What I want to do this year….

I want to spend more time with the ones I love, I want to be able to work more with horses. This year I really want to work on my relationship with my Savior, I want to focus more on Him, pray and read my Bible more often. That is what I am going to make my goal for the new year!

How AMAZING it is, what God did for us. :)

Too Old for Toys???

Who says that when you get older you are too old for toys!? :D I have about 40 Breyer model horses and a random 10 others. The black one above is a new one, he came from a lady at church. He is a Japan horse. :)

Because I have so many models I can’t display them all, so most of them stay in a box and every few months I rotate them out.

My boyfriend says he is worried about my horse model fetish. He says he doesn’t like the idea of a future house full of horses on shelves. I reassured him though that they’d only be in the bathroom :D (it’ll be a wild west theme).

These two are really neat, they are salt and pepper shakers! So they are pretty and practical. ;) And as long as I have anything to say about it, no one is too old for toys. :)

Here is one of my favorite poems that my Mom shared with me a while ago. I even still have the paper she printed out for me, I couldn’t read it though. It was covered with something that I had spilt on it. lol But I very happily found it on the internet so I could share it with you. :)

Apples…

This is an apple from our Honey Crisp Tree. :)

So I tried looking for an apple pie recipe in all of our cook books and some sites online, because I wanted one with a crumb topping. Though all the ones I found had a funny filling or crust. So I made one up using three different recipes. :)

The bottom crust was just a regular pie dough recipe.

1 1/4 cup flour

1/3 cup shortening

3 to 4 Tbsp. COLD water

1/2 Tsp. salt

After I mixed the dough I put it in the fridge for about two hours to chill. It made it a LOT easier to roll out without any crumbling. I then put it in a greased pie plate an set aside.

Pre heat your oven to 375^deg.

For the filling I thinly cut

4 large Granny Smith apples (about 4 1/2 cups)

Then added and mixed in

1 cup sugar

1/4 cup flour

1/2 Tsp. cinnamon

1/4 Tsp. nutmeg

I just set that aside while I put together the topping. The topping is made from….

1/2 cup old fashioned rolled oats

1/4 cup flour

1/4 cup brown sugar

1/2 Tsp.

1/4 cup softened butter

I mixed the first four ingredients together then cut in the butter until it was all mixed in, then I had a crumble.

Putting it all together!

I put the apples into my pie crust, then sprinkled the topping evenly over the top. Then took some aluminum foil and covered the crust around the edge of the pie plate. Placed in oven and baked it for 20min. Then I took it out of oven and pulled off foil and placed back in oven for another 25 to 30min.

I took it out and and let cool for an hour. It can then be served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. :) NUMMY!

I have been working more on my human parts, and surprisingly the hand wasn’t that hard. :)

I tried a new style of painting horses too. I thought it was kind of funky, but really pretty too. Tasha bought this from the sale. ;) I’m going to try to do another one on a giant canvas that I found at a garage sale. It had an ugly painting on it, so I painted over it with primer.

Last but not least the drawing of an Arabian, I LOVE this drawing! :)

My Little Random Homemade Things…

Trying new yarns can be fun, and I think I found my new favorite kind. I made the cuff bellow…

…out of this yarn. It is an Acrylic, Bamboo Fiber mix. The combination makes for very fine, soft yarn.

I made the hats and cuff below out of Caron Simply Soft. The Bamboo mix is also Caron. If you go to their site they have a bunch of free crochet and knitting patterns. :)

These patterns I came up with, I just went with whatever came out the best. If it didn’t work out I pulled them out and started over again.

I sold some of my homemade things at the Dickens fair, several of my cuffs sold and two of my hats. The two above didn’t, along with some of my cuffs, so I might try to do an Etsy.

These gift tags were a lot of fun to make and were really easy. I took old, blank cue cards and put music sheet paper on the side with the lines and then put whatever cute paper I wanted on top of that. On the Blank side I just stamped the “to and from”. :)

These old, retro buttons I found in my mom’s button jars. I thought they were kind of ugly at first, but then I put some of the on my cuffs and they didn’t look so bad. :)

So I really like my little point and shoot camera, and it does take pretty good pic’s. However right now I am trying to save up for a Cannon or Nikon DSLR, and I’m trying even harder now after Tasha let me borrow her Nikon DSLR. Using a little point and click isn’t as fun any more, but I am happy to have a working camera. :) lol

There weren’t any flowers to take pictures of and almost the whole time I had the camera it rained, I had to run in and out to get any out door shots.

But I got a lot pet shots. :)

Things I Am Thankful For…

I am firstly and most thankful for Jesus coming to earth, living a sinless life and dying for me. The most amazing gift ever given to man. :)

I am VERY thankful for my parents, I don’t know if I could live without their constant love and support; they are always there for me.

I am thankful for all the rest of my family, they add so much love and joy to my life! :)

I am Extra thankful for my best friend, and/or boyfriend Josh. He has really made my life complete, has helped me to be a stronger person, and is always there for me.

I am Thankful for my little horse, he has been so much fun to raise and he has taught me a LOT of patience.

I am thankful for my other pets.

I am thankful for my home that I live in.

I am also VERY thankful for my church family, they are amazing, they always are very loving and kind.

I am thankful for my ability to draw, paint, sew, and crochet. I am also thankful that God gave me a voice to sing with.

I am thankful for FOOD, haha I love food. ;)

I am thankful for my old truck, my beater with a heater. I’m very thankful that it runs good!

I am thankful that God has given me the opportunity to work with the children in the church. Both at our AWANA club and in Children’s Church. They are truly a pleasure to be with.

I am thankful for my few, but good friends.

I am thankful for all the opportunities I have had to ride and work with horses.

I am just super thankful for ALL that God has given me. :)

Crocheting Crazy…

I made these roses for our Pastor’s wife. She is going to make them into pins by adding a button to the center and a pin to the back.

Here is the pattern for them. :)

Make a chain of 48

Petals 1-3; skip 2 ch, * 1 dc in each of the next 2 ch, ch 1, ss in next ch, ch 1 and repeat from * 2 times.

Petals 4-6; * ch 2, 1 tr in each of the 4 ch, ch 2, ss in next ch, repeat from * 3 times.

Petals 7-9; * ch 2, 1 tr in each of the next 6 ch, ch 2, ss in next ch, repeat from * 3 times.

Putting together; Press petals to shape, starting with the smallest petal, stitching around as you go.

I used a H or a I hook, it just depends on the thickness of your yarn. Use any color you like best, I added to the flowers above, I made a silver flower along with a dark green one.

And in case you don’t know crocheting lingo here are the abbreviations.

Ch; chain Dc; Double crochet SS; Slip stitch Tr; Triple crochet *; repeat from

Here is also a slouchy hat I made, my sister kindly let me use her as model for the hat. :)

I made this head band so in the winter I can wear my hair in a pony tail and not have my ears freeze.

I tried something new last week. I made a wrist cuff, It is for a friend at church, Tasha. It’s a little different than the one she wanted made, so if she doesn’t like it, it will be added to her booth at the Dickens fair.

Yes, I carved a pumpkin! :D Though this year I tried something new, and it wasn’t very easy. I only carved the skin off and left the flesh so only a little bit of light came trough. Josh was over that night as well so he “helped” me with the tree and then he carved the back. :)

For my Graduation gift a year and a half ago, my Grandma made me a quilt. :)

She personalized it too, It has my name, and the other parts have meaning too. The Tulips, on either side of my name, represent my Dutch heritage.

This is my horse and I.

My guitar, and, just because they are cool, flip flops.

All of the animals we’ve owned, I love the pig and bees. lol

And my family, the top two people are my Brother and Sister, Jacob and Amy. The hearts on the bottom represent the five people in my family. :)

My Grandma has made countless quilts over the years, all of them are truly Amazing. :)

A Horse’s Thought…

I have just started a new blog, A Horse’s Thought, I welcome you to visit it. A few weeks ago I went and walked the shops in down town Snohomish and took just a few pictures of some of the pretty things I saw. Thrift Store, Sales or FREE…

I love getting new clothes, it’s fun putting together new outfits, even with just a new shirt or pair of jeans. :) But I don’t like spending a lot of money on new clothing. That’s why almost all of my clothes I buy from a thrift store, on sale at any inexpensive store or they are hand-me-downs.

This shirt came from Ross and I love it because it goes with almost everything!

This super cute jacket came from my aunt, she works at a food bank, which also has a community closet. Well they were cleaning it out and she came with bags upon bags of clothes for my sister and I to go through.

These also came from my aunt, I loved the style of the one on the left, so I went to a few stores to see if I could find another one. I found them, and they all were very cute but all very expensive, at around $30 to $40! :0 The shirt on the right is name brand (Hollister), so I know that one normally isn’t cheap.

These are my favorite ~~fake~~ suede boots from Kmart, they are normally $30 but they were 50% off! :)

My other resent finds were the 2 pairs of jeans from the thrift store, $5 each! They both fit perfect too! :) I would have been able to buy half a pair of jeans for the price that I got two (that’s at the inexpensive stores!)

More Than Food….

Hershey, Nestlé, Popcorn and Buttermilk are more than just food items. They are our four new baby hens!

These two are Popcorn and Buttermilk, they are both Buff Orpington hens, well chicks.

And these two are Hershey and Nestle’, they are both Welsummers, and they are very camera shy! They kept hiding behind the two Buffs.

When we got the four of them we decided to see if my bantam hen, Nugget, would take care of them. So we put her in, and she looked at them and gently gave them each a peck on the head and then went about preening herself. So far so good! Until she noticed the two Welsummers were different. She picked out the two of them and started to get really rough with her pecking them. So needless to say, we had to pull her out and they all were much happier. :)

Our family can’t wait till spring when they start laying, especially the Welsummers. They lay dark, brown eggs, and sometimes they have speckles on them. :) So we will then have Brown, Green and Chocolate colored eggs.

I drew the picture of Nugget about a year ago and decided to draw it again. The top is drawing from a year ago and the bottom the one I just finished. :)

I thought it was cool to see the difference of skill in one year, so I’m now digging through my sketches to find more that I can redraw and compare. :)

It’s finally fall and it’s about the time when I start to read more again. :) So I thought I’d post some of my favorite books to read.

1. Jane Austin's, Pride and Prejudice (of course)

2. The Emily books by L.M. Montgomery it’s a series that has, Emily of New Moon, Emily Climbs, and Emily’s Quest.

3. The Grand Sophy by Georgette Heyer (I love almost all her books! She is one of my favorite authors)

4. The Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini (I can’t wait for the 4th book to come out!)

5. The Gold Shoe by Grace Livingston Hill (I love a lot of her other books! :))

6. I am reading the Mercy Fall series by Colleen Coble right now, I’m part way through the 3rd book. :) I really like this author, she is a Christian woman who writes mystery, Christian, romance novels.

7. Fitzwilliam Darcy, Gentleman, A novel in three part by Pamela Aidan. Book 1. An Assembly Such as This, Book 2. Duty and Desire, Book 3. These Three Remain. I love these three books! They are based on Pride And Prejudice, but are from Mr. Darcy’s point of view. The author did a good job, and she didn’t stray from Jane’s writings about Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet. I read them At least once every year, along with Pride and Prejudice. :)

8. The Bible, by God. :) By far my favorite book ever!

Projects…

I have just started several new projects this week, and have planned just as many, if not more, than I have started.

I just finished crocheting this hat for myself and am working on a scarf to go with it. :)

My other projects are 3 slouchy hats for a local store, they told me to make some in some “in” colors and they’d possibly sell them(cool!). Then another slouchy hat for a friend who I go riding with. I also have a large project that I’m starting for part of my boyfriends Christmas gift. I can’t say what though, because he sometimes stops in to read my blog. I will show you his, and my other projects when I’m done and after Christmas. :)

This is kind of hard to see but I started a sketch on a canvas that I will be painting. I have three other paintings I’m wanting to work on as well. One other random painting, one for my old riding instructor, who has been letting me ride her horses, and one for my grandparents. :)

Fall Weather…

Fall weather in Washington is crazy, one minute it can be beautiful and sunny and the next the winds are blowing hard and you have rain. Though getting rain is nothing new to us I guess, we probably get more than our share of it. Then again that is why we are the Evergreen state, and why we do have such beautiful landscapes. :)

a few days ago, or a week ago, well, I can’t remember, not that long ago we had a crazy little storm. Our cherry tree was blowing around all over the place!

And then it stared down pouring, everything in our yard was soaking wet and became a puddle.

Our poor sunflowers bloomed late this year and now aren’t getting much sun, but plenty of water! :)

This is a cool picture of our mums after all the rain. I took a picture of my horse after the rain too, but he wasn’t too cute. :/ lol Darcy likes to stand out in the rain rather than in his nice DRY stall. I don’t think he realizes that it annoys me, and that he gets that nasty fungus, rain rot, on himself from it! :D haha though one day maybe he’ll figure out that it’s much more comfortable to be dry. :)

My 84 Dodge Ram…

About a year ago I got a really cool old pickup truck. It is such a simple, bare bones truck, it doesn’t even have a radio. It’s windshield wipers have two speeds and my heater only has one setting. The trucks bed is all dented and the doors you have to slam closed, or you get a draft when driving or a wet seat the next time you get in. lol It has no power steering or breaks ( I park in the very farthest spots at all the stores). Also sometimes it stinks! like gas or rotten eggs. :/ Hahahaha still it is great hunk of metal that gets me where I need to go.

And finished! :) My dad painted it a very pretty metallic blue that matches the paint inside of the truck. :) The only thing that it needs done is the tailgate, it’s a green still, (we found it at a garage sale for 20$). Its way better than a car though, even with all it’s little issues. I can get my hay for my horse, take my dog to the park (and if she gets wet, she can ride in the back!). I have even taken my horse in it, well in the back, taking a ride isn’t his favorite thing, but he is always a good listener. :)

Sorry it took so long for me to post the winner, life has been crazy! :D lol I just started Contenders Bible school (a class taught at our church by our Pastor), so I have had homework galore! Our AWANA program has also started, I’m a co-leader for that, I’m also now a Sunday school teacher once a month. :) did I mention I have a little horse who likes attention, so does the horse I ride down the street… oh and also my Boyfriend likes to spend some time with me. lol Crazy busy life, but I enjoy the things I do, so I have NO complaints. :) Well as long as I can fit in a bit of time for my art. ;)

I am trying my hand at humans right now, it’s going okay, at least for a beginner I guess. Eyes are my stronger point right now, my noses are getting there but my mouths are horrid. Though practice makes perfect. :)

Earnestly I Seek Thee….

Life has finally hit me…

It hit me harder than I thought it would. Though I guess it was silly of me to think it’d be just a walk in the park, and on a sunny day at that. No, much to my disappointment life is more like a full on sprint though the busy streets of Seattle and in the pouring rain.

I feel wet and tired, and I haven’t really even started my life yet.

That is a very scary thing… If you don’t have someone to lean on, someone to guide you.

Some decisions in my life are beginning to pop up and all around me I see doors. I made the mistake of pushing some doors open, instead of waiting for them to be opened for me by God. I found that I wasn’t trusting Him like I needed to be. I was just kind of looking around for what He wanted. I was just glancing at Him, I was blind and deft to what He had in store for me. I don’t want that for my life, I want to be listening to Him, and seeking Him. I still don’t know what it is He has planned, but I plan to earnestly seek Him and completely trust in all that He has laid out for me.

Here is a link to Aaron Gillespie’s “Earnestly I Seek Thee”. It is a tad bit rockish at a few points, but I really love the song and feeling he puts into it.

Hair Cut…

No I didn’t get my hair cut, my little man did. This spring when I cut Mr. Darcy’s hair I cut a little too much of his mane. That though wasn’t too big of a deal, till he started reaching through his fence to get the grass on the other side (because as you know, it’s always greener). He was rubbing it off every time his neck went in and out of the fence.

Here we have his pretty, long, grey mane.

Now he has no mane, I had to cut it all off because he had rubbed half of it off. :( However his roached mane is kind of cute. :)

I love the buckskin pintos, they have so much color. :)

Yes I know it’s a horse’s rear end, but I loved the color of this horses coat. It was like silver, dappled palomino.

This horse is impossible to take pictures of! He loves the camera too much, he shoves his nose right in it. This picture I did think was pretty neat though.

This little fuzz ball is no longer so small. It weighs about the same as it’s adopted mom. lol Daily French Fry looses it’s fuzz and grows a few more feathers. :) Can’t wait till it’s bigger than mom and still follows her!

A Fantastic Day….

Tuesday my boyfriend took me me out for the day down to Seattle. :) We went to the E.M.P. (Experience Music Project) The Aquarium, Pike Place Market and then out to dinner.

This is the E.M.P. building, or as we call it, The Blob. :)

We stopped at the park by the Space Needle and ate our picnic lunch.

This was just too weird, I couldn't help but take a picture of it. lol A man walking down the wall, holding the light. :D Cool!

Here are some of my favorite fish from the Aquarium.

Yes I know, these guys aren’t fish, but they were really fun to watch. The handlers came out and were making them do jumps and twists, amazing what they can do. :)

Some may think saying, “awww, it’s sooooo cute” may be a bit cliché when you see something like this pic below, but you really cannot but help saying it!

This is the one and sadly the only duckling my Bantam hen was able to hatch. However she is very happy and proud of her “chick”.

The cute baby has received its name, thanks to my mom. My hen’s name is Chicken Nugget, so this little one’s name is French Fry! :D

Busy Week!

First I took a trip to Eastern Washington for one night, then three nights at my Grandparents house. Then I come home and I have the weekend packed full of things to do! Riding horses,going to the town festival and spending time with Josh. :) Yes, very busy, but still fun.

This was the COOLEST arena ever! (we went here with my grandparents) It was sooo big and it was the nicest horse arena I had ever been to, sadly though I didn’t ride in it. I ate lunch there! lol If you look on the right side of the picture there is a glass wall above the arena, it’s a restaurant! Yep, a restaurant that looked over a covered riding area. Inside the restaurant it was decorated in a horsey décor. :)

Some of the horses that they work with at this ranch are worth more than cars and some houses! :0

My grandparents also took my brother, sister and I to Boeing for a tour of the plant. We didn’t get to bring and cameras or phones with us inside so I just took a picture of the planes outside. The planes are HUGE!

We also went on a walk through the woods while staying at my grandparents house. Back in the woods there was an old wood mill, you can kinda see it in the picture, through all of the brush.

The mill was next to this beautiful pond.

Lastly here is a picture of one of Grandma’s gorgeous roses. :)

Homemade Tortilla Chips….

First I cut the tortillas into eighths.

Then I stick them into the preheated oil and let them fry for about 20 to 40 seconds, each side, or until lightly browned.

I then stuck the chips onto a plate with a paper towel (to absorb the oil drips) and sprinkled them with salt, while they are still hot.

I let them cool, then serve. Super easy!

Finished Projects… (Finally)

Several months ago I started two projects, one with yarn and the other an old sheet. Well I finished!!!!!!

My crocheted project was a brown throw, which is a giant granny square. :)

And my project with the sheet was a summer dress! :) The pattern I also got at the thrift store, and for only 1$. Though I admit I didn’t exactly follow the pattern, and therefore had to redo a lot of things. lol For the straps I used an old pair of denim jean legs that I had cut off for shorts. The pink band was just some scrap that I had in a pile.

It’s a jumble of stuff, however it turned out pretty good. :)

Art and a Silly Hen….

This is a watercolor, acrylic painting of our house that I painted for my mom’s birthday (it was a day late). I started out with watercolors, but the I ran out, so I used my acrylics and made the watery. lol

This one of the Arabian is one of my new favorites. :)

I drew my bantam chicken laying on her nest because it has a neat story to go with it. My silly chicken, Nugget, has been laying on this nest for about a month or more and underneath her has been a golf ball. We put it there to encourage her to lay her own eggs, but she didn’t get it and just sat on the ball.

Well a week ago I was talking to a friend and she told me about her ducks and how her and her husband had just got a drake. However they didn’t want their girls to sit on the eggs, because they eat their eggs (the humans). So I asked about getting a few from her for my hen to lay on. My friend liked the idea and brought some over.

Oh my gosh I have never seen this little hen as mad as when I pulled the golf ball out from underneath her! I tried holding her so I could put the eggs on the nest, without loosing my hand haha. Well I got three on the nest then I lost control of the angry, little Nugget. She ran to the nest box, but I still had one more egg. Though I didn’t think it’d fit being as the eggs were about three times the size of a bantam’s egg. I placed the egg in front of her nest to see what she thought about it and to my surprise she rolled it under her and fluffed herself up to cover up all of the four duck eggs!

So now we shall see if my silly hen gets to be a Mom to four ducklings. :)

Josh took me out to a movie about a week or two ago so went and saw Cars 2 in 3D. :) Good movie! not as good as the first but it was a lot more funny than the first.

When we got to the theater we got to see Lighting McQueen,

My Little Stallion…

My little horse has to be shaved every spring. That’s when he changes from an adorable little fuzz ball to a gorgeous mini stallion.

Chestnut to, well, I don’t really know.

At first he looks like a red roan, but then he gets really dark and turns into a silver bay, though he also could be a liver chestnut in some lights.

I don’t care though what color Darcy is, he is still one very handsome stud. :)

So my boyfriend, Josh, thinks I’m kinda like a guy when it comes to cars. That though is hard to avoid with a Dad who works on cars, tows cars and scraps cars. So I hear a lot about them and need to know what things are, so I can assist him. I don’t know a ton, but if some guys are talking about cars I can relate with what they are talking about. Also I have a thing for old cars and trucks, especially old trucks! lol

My family and I went to a car show today and so I HAD to bring my camera.

Loved the light, green color on this truck. :)

This car was just really nice! So I had to take an up close picture. :)

Oh my goodness, I loved this truck! The color, the bright orange, the model and the bed. It was such a nice wood bed! As much as I love the look though, my truck could never have a bed like that, we use it too much. However! it is going to be getting a paint job! Super excited about that. It will be a light, metallic, blue. :D

Long Walks…

I spent a week house sitting for some friends of our family, while there I had a LOT of spare time. So I watched movies, did a puzzle, worked on some projects,read books, played my guitar and their piano. Then, I also took some long walks and of course brought my camera along with. :) I drove by this house several times, the one above, but never really realized how amazing it was, it was a beautiful old farm house.

This super cute house was completely hidden from the view of a car. I loved the little shed that was behind the house.

This sloping hill looks so perfect, especially with the blossoming tree in the distance.

Barbed wire was almost all of the fences I saw. They make cool pictures. ;)

I really have NO idea what this is, but I thought it was neat.

A snail was hiding in the weeds behind a flower that I was photographing.

I loved looking at all the different things on my walks, every time I would go out I’d discover something new. I also loved the peace and silence out in the country. What a beautiful word God created. :)

Whoa! Where Has the Time Gone???

Time is just going too fast for me! I’m pretty sure winter just started. Though here it is March and the flowers are poking up out of the ground!

Seems like today is now yesterday and tomorrow is today!

My birthday, what I thought was a few months ago, is now only a few weeks away! I can’t imagine how time will fly when I’m old, like my mom! ;) JK!!!! I love you Mom! :)

It makes me wonder how time will pass in heaven, when we have forever to live. That is even harder to imagine! Though no doubt we’ll be too happy for it to be of any concern anymore. :)

Homemade Things….

A lace doily! :D I found the string like yarn (I don’t know what is called!) at the thrift store for .99 cents. So I crocheted a little doily.

Then I set it in a small bowl of tea and dyed it, so it was cream.

And TADA! A pretty doily. :)

NEXT

Pj pants! I took a pair of my existing pants, folded them lengthwise, laid them on my fabric (on the folded edge) that I had folded twice and then cut around them. I sewed them up, added a ribbon drawstring and I love them! :)

THEN

Bees wax candles….

Wax sheets warmed up with a hair dryer….

Rolled up…

And burned…

And here you have a very clean and good smelling bees wax candle. :)

Strawberry, Rhubarb Crisp….

Nummy!

About a week or two ago I made this crisp for a dinner when we had company. I was worried about it too, because I for one, used frozen fruits (I had never done that with the strawberries) and I messed up!

For the top I should’ve used brown sugar, I used white sugar. Whoops! However it was still good. :)

FILLING

4 and 1/2 cups Strawberries (fresh or frozen)

2 cups Rhubarb (fresh or frozen)

1 cup sugar

1/4 cup of flour (thickener)

1/8 tsp. cinnamon

1/8 tsp. nutmeg

I cut the strawberries, that were partially thawed, into bite size pieces (they were frozen whole). Then I poured the rhubarb in, it was a sauce. I mixed the flour, cinnamon, nutmeg and sugar in, you can add more or less sugar. Then set aside.

TOPPING

1 cup rolled oats

1 cup of sugar (or brown sugar)

1/2 cup flour

1/2 cup softened butter

I mixed the oats, sugar and flour together and then cut in the butter. I lightly greased my 9x13 pan then poured in my filling. Spread the topping evenly over the top and put in the oven. Oven should be heated to 350 degrees and the crisp should bake for 40 to 45 minuets. Serves 12.

It is best served with vanilla ice cream! :D

Working with horses!

I have recently started to train horses, first the horse on the top, a eight year old Tennessee Walker gelding.

I am working on getting him ready for the owners husband to ride. In the next few weeks I am going to be working with

a four year old Kiger Mustang gelding. He is in need of better ground work.

I am super excited to have a job like this. I’m getting paid to do what I love! :)

I was in the middle of grooming Mr. Darcy when the sun started to go down, his eyes and mane gleamed in the light.

So being the awesome little horse he is he waited patiently for me to run inside to get my camera. I LOVE this picture

of him. Such a pretty boy. :)

I have recently started to trim my horses hooves with my neighbors help, cause his hooves all have a funny flair. So we have been working on bringing them down. I'm excited to learn how to work on horses feet, especially with his, they’re small! :D

What Christmas Means to Me….

To me, Christmas isn’t about all the gifts, all that you receive and all that you can get. Christmas isn’t about the shopping, the lights, the gift wrappings, Christmas carols

and deals you can get on TV and online. Me, I love to give gifts, I love seeing joy on ones face, and sure, I also love Christmas lights! They are always

so pretty. Well, come to think of it, the gift wrappings are too, with all their colors and bows. However one of my favorite things about Christmas is the food!

The ham, green bean casserole, potatoes, cranberries and rolls…. nummy…. Still, There is more to it, like snow! Snow is good (though most the time

we get rain), Christmas is great with all that white fluff.

Yet before all that, when I think of Christmas I think of my time spent with my family. To me spending that special day with the ones you love makes the holiday

joy complete. We lounge around in pj’s and spend the day together, watching movies and playing games. There, at home, surrounded by family and love,

you can feel the spirit of Christmas.

Then, what Christmas is truly about, what Christmas really means to me. It means the joy, love and peace that God gave me, that He gave us.

He couldn’t have shown more love to us, then by sending His son here on earth. God gave us the best gift that could be given, and it didn’t come in a wrapped box

or bag. God didn’t come to give us a great deal on that new something we wanted or give us that earthy trifle we desired. He gave us a chance

to be saved, He gave us eternal life in heaven, God gave us grace and showed us love. Our Lord gave us a gift, and to receive, all we have to do

is ask. What a wonderful gift He gave, Jesus.

That’s what Christmas is to me.

I was out playing with my sisters rabbit, and that’s when I saw them land on his black coat, and I could see their shape!

However the silly rabbit wanted nothing to do with my picture taking so I took a pic. of the flakes on my own coat.

When I saw that they showed in the photo I got super excited! :D
